We began baking pies back in 1993 inside of our home in Armada, Michigan. We soon moved to a ten acre apple orchard and Achatz Handmade Pie Co. was officially started. Through today, we continue maintaining our pies at high standard to be the best. We have even been featured on shows and networks including the "Food Network", "Rachael Ray Show", "Good Morning America Weekend" and "Rachael Ray Show". We have also made appearances in "Bon Appétit" and "Food & Wine" magazines. Our pies have won many local and national awards. We invite you to stop by and try them for yourselves.
Our goal is to "create the best pies money can buy". We truly care about what we bring in to your kitchen. Made from scratch, pure butter, pure vanilla and fresh, local milk, we make the extra effort to create an excellent pie.
Grand Traverse Pie Company opened the doors at its original location in Traverse City in 1996, but has since expanded to 14 other locations, including 11 in Michigan, plus a food truck. This homegrown enterprise is among the bakeries with the most flavor options on this list. Whether you want a fruit pie, nut pie, cream pie, or a combination, you will find what you need for your Thanksgiving meal. Keep in mind that the menu varies among locations. You can count on finding at least one variety of Michigan Montmorency cherry pies (Old Mission Cherry is an Oprah favorite) and various types of apple pies made with Northern Spy apples. Customers who love the classics will also find pecan, chocolate pecan, pumpkin, strawberry rhubarb, and more.
